RE: NOTIFICATION OF AVAILABILITY OF THE DRAFT BASIC ASSESSMENT REPORT FOR PUBLIC REVIEW AND COMMENT OF THE PROPOSED NEW TRANSMISSION LINES, SWITCHING STATION AND ACCESS ROAD FOR THE AUTHORISED DE AAR 2 SOUTH WEF, NEAR DE AAR IN THE NORTHERN CAPE PROVINCE

Mulilo De Aar 2 South (Pty) Ltd (‘Mulilo’) is proposing the construction of transmission lines and a switching station for the evacuation of power generated from the authorised De Aar 2 South Wind Energy Facility (DA2S WEF) (DFFE Ref: 12/12/20/2463/1/AM8). The Applicant is also applying for the development of site access and internal roads. The proposed development is located approximately 15 to 26 km east of the town of De Aar, Northern Cape Province.
Arcus Consultancy Services South Africa (Ltd) Pty (‘Arcus’) has been appointed to act as project manager and to undertake the basic assessment process for Environmental Authorisation under Chapter 4 of the National Environmental Management Act, 1998 (Act 107 of 1998 – NEMA) as amended, for the Proposed Development.
Invitation to Comment: The Draft Basic Assessment Report (BAR) is available for public review and comment, taking into consideration Chapter 2 Regulation 3 (1); (2) and (3) of the NEMA, 1998 (Act No. 107 of 1998).
Members of the public, local communities, and stakeholders are invited to comment on the Draft BAR which is available for public review and comment, from Wednesday, 27 July 2022 until Friday, 26 August 2022 (both days inclusive), at the Hennie Liebenberg Library in the town of De Aar and available for download below.

Following the 30-day public participation, the comments will be addressed and incorporated into the Final BAR, which will be submitted to the Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment (DFFE) for authorisation.
Please note, regarding the Protection of Personal Information Act (PoPI Act 4 of 2013, as amended): If you request to register as an I&AP, your personal information will be made available to an appellant in the case of an appeal, and an applicant/EAP/independent person for purposes of being informed and given access to an audit report.
